Glenshellish is a b-listed smallholding and creative space in Argyll, on the West Coast of Scotland. Our work grows from the relationship between people and place by tending land, practicig traditional skills, and celebrating community through food, craft, and shared experience. Practically, we are developing a nature immersed venue where people can rest, play, learn and connect. We are doing this with the help of wwoofers (live-in volunteers) by building our ties with the local community, and while surrounded by farm animals (alpacas, goats, and chickens), permaculture, and temperate rainforest.

Vision

In a world that often pulls us away from the land and from one another, we see Glenshellish as a space to reconnect, to live more closely with nature and with community.
This is a landscape shaped as much by hands as by weather, a meeting place for care, creativity, and the wild.
Our vision is to live and work in ways that restore balance: engaging with the land through making, learning, and play; listening as much as we shape; and exploring how people and place can thrive together.

Mission

Our mission at Glenshellish is to care for the land and to live sustainably within it by learning from its history, its seasons, and its needs.
We combine rewilding with traditional skills, craft, and creativity, exploring how people can work with nature rather than against it.
Through small-scale projects, community learning, and shared experiences, we aim to nurture curiosity, resilience, and a deeper sense of belonging — both to this place and to the wider living world.

Our story so far

James and I took over Glenshellish in January 2025. We spent the the first year getting to know the land alongside the community, friends, and volunteers. In 2026 we are starting the journey to shape the space more intentionally and will begin to host our first events. If you would like to follow our story, this blog is the way to do it.
